Introduction
Indian dance, as a CCA, plays a significant role in enriching students' learning experiences by blending physical, emotional, and cultural development. It involves a variety of classical and folk dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bhangra, and many others, each with its own unique history, technique, and storytelling methods. By participating in dance, students learn about traditional music, costumes, rituals, and mythology, which broadens their understanding of the cultural significance behind each form.
In Indian Dance, we continuously challenge ourselves and persevere to improve in order to reach greater heights. For instance, students are given opportunities to select their own preference of music and choreograph their dance with some assistance from our instructor. This is to allow the development of creativity and ownership of their performances.
Apart from dancing in school for school events and programmes, the dancers have also performed for Deepavali events in Taman Jurong CC, the Indian Heritage Centre and Jurong Police Division Headquarters. They have also gained valuable experience in showcasing their talents in Senses 2024 held in Sentosa.
